Brendan and the Secret of Kells
Did you hear about this film, did you had a chance to see it? Did you love it? We saw it last year at the Barbican. I cried, I fell in love, I even bought the soundtrack. We’re hoping for the DVD, but in a meantime – the BFI is showing it this weekend. Woohoo! I’m (most likely) going to cry again and leave the theatre in a somewhat amazing state. It’s a beautiful story, beautiful animation and music is just bewitching. See it and enjoy.
And have a lovely (and special to some of us
weekend!

I haven’t heard of this movie till now, Mia. The trailer looks really good – a bit scary! i wonder if my 8 year old would like it?

Audrey – all depends from a child. My both boys, 4.5 & 8 years old, loved it
Those darker bits are quite short and ‘guided through’ with cuddles and some reassurance
I think the beautiful idea of great importance to share/pass the knowledge, in this case in form of a book, is so strong and dominant, that children ‘get it’ and see the film in quite a positive light. At least mine did.
We’ve seen it twice so far and both times it was a completely immersive experience.
So hope for the dvd in English. Celine – you’re lucky!
